Eko Hot Blog reports the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has raised alarm over what it describes as terrorist attacks by the Nigerian military in Uli, Ihiala, Anambra State.
The group alleges that the military, under the guise of searching for criminals, has engaged in the burning down of numerous houses in Uli. According to IPOB, these incidents have gone unreported by the media.

In a statement issued by IPOB’s spokesperson, Emma Powerful, the group expressed concern over the reported burning and destruction of homes and property in Umulolo, Okigwe Local Government Area (LGA) of Imo State, by the military.
The statement read: “As of Sunday, January 28, 2024, the military invaded the peaceful community of Uli in Ihiala LGA of Anambra State and burnt down many homes and other property of Igbo indigenes, and the media refused to report it.”
IPOB questioned the motives behind the consistent acts of terrorism, attacks, and humiliation against Ndigbo by the Nigerian government and its security forces.
The group compared the treatment of the Southeast region with the approach adopted in other parts of the country when dealing with security threats.
“The question is, what has Ndigbo done to the Nigerian government and her murderous security forces to warrant consistent terrorism, attacks, and humiliation at the slightest provocations? Does the Nigerian military burn down the houses of innocent people in other parts of Nigeria? Do they destroy property in Northern Nigeria when going after the terrorists and bandits ravaging the North?” IPOB queried in its statement.
IPOB further lamented the series of terrorist attacks faced by Southeastern Nigeria, citing mass murders, property destruction, and the forceful disappearances of many youths by Nigerian security forces and their alleged collaborators, including Fulani herdsmen.
The group expressed its dissatisfaction with the current security situation and criticized the governments under Muhammadu Buhari and Bola Tinubu.
