The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has pledged to ensure a peaceful Christmas in the South-East, urging those returning home to do so safely.
IPOB’s Media Secretary, Emma Powerful, emphasized the group’s commitment to ending insecurity and assured that the Eastern Security Network (ESN) would protect lives and property during the festive season.

He criticized the Nigerian government’s security presence in the area, claiming it increases insecurity. Powerful assured that IPOB and the Eastern Security Network (ESN) would ensure the safety of Biafran land and investments.
He also warned criminals to stay away during the Christmas season, stating that IPOB volunteers and ESN operatives are working to keep the region secure.
Obinna Ichita, former Abia State House of Assembly member and APGA’s 2023 deputy governorship candidate, has stated that the release of IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu would help end hostilities in the South-East.
He argued that Kanu’s release would help security forces differentiate between genuine agitators and criminals, reducing the risk of violent crimes. Ichita, who recently met with Kanu at the DSS headquarters, emphasized that any development efforts must prioritize security for lasting peace.
Ichita said, “In my recent discussions with Kanu, he raised critical issues that can be addressed. Many agree that his release would not only portray the President as a unifier but also show Nigeria as an example of Africans solving their own problems without external influence.”
