IPOB Warns Enugu Governor Against Establishing Cattle Ranch, Calls For Indigenous Management

Eko Hot Blog reports that the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has strongly advised Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, to abandon any plans to establish a cattle ranch in Nimbo, Uzowani community of Enugu State.

EDITOR’S PICK:

IPOB, through its spokesperson, Emma Powerful, warned that the group would vehemently oppose such initiatives by Governor Mbah or any other South-East governor, deeming it a potential threat to the region.

IPOB insisted that if Governor Mbah is interested in establishing a cattle ranch in Enugu State, it should be managed privately by an indigenous businessman rather than opening the doors to Fulani herdsmen.

In a statement, Emma Powerful expressed the group’s concerns about Governor Mbah’s alleged collaboration with community leaders to sell land to Fulani herdsmen for the establishment of RUGA, citing political motivations.

“Enugu State citizens must know about the arrangements of Mbah in giving away their ancestral lands to him for his political interests and compensation.”

IPOB emphasized that they are closely monitoring Governor Mbah and his collaborators, asserting their commitment to preventing the establishment of any cattle ranch in Enugu State by non-indigenes.

“Only Ndigbo are allowed to own cattle ranches anywhere in Igbo land. We don’t want to have non-indigenes operating any cattle ranch in Igbo land.”

The statement called on Enugu citizens, community youths, and groups to provide IPOB/ESN with information about proposed sites for camps or ranches around Uzowani.

IPOB warned that the Eastern Security Network (ESN) would take action if necessary.

“We are also informing South-East governors to shun any idea of establishing cattle ranches in any state in the South-East Region. IPOB and ESN operatives won’t allow any establishment of any camp in the name of cattle ranch in any state in the Biafra territory.”

FUTHER READING:

IPOB’s strong stance reflects their determination to protect the interests of the Igbo community and maintain control over the establishment of cattle ranches within the region.
