IPOB’s Sit-At-Home: Anambra Commissioner Stresses Govt’s Position On Exercise
EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Anambra State Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, C-Don Adinuba, has said that the government is not aware of any sit-at-home, and that people should ignore such order from the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
Adinuba said despite government’s assurance to the people of adequate security, they have continued to observe the outlawed sit-at-home. He said there is nothing the government can do as it cannot force the people out.
“Our position and the position of every government in the South-East is that people have to be law-abiding and comply with the law. The government has provided adequate security needed and it is now left for them to go about their normal business but whereby they have refused, the government cannot force them to come out,” Adinuba told Punch on Sunday.

It is noteworthy that IPOB has since last year cancelled its Monday sit-at-homes, but some hoodlums continue to violently force people to comply. The sit-at-home was initially announced to tackle the continued detention by Nigerian authorities of Nnamdi Kanu, the controversial IPOB leader.
At some areas in the South East region at the weekend, this newspaper observed an unusual human traffic in markets and shops as shoppers struggle to buy items that would sustain them for the period.
Some buyers said they were confused since there were violent enforcers, who were bent on destroying properties and killing people on Mondays.
