Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Nasser Kanaani, announced on Monday that the country will not leave any of “the criminal acts” of Israel unanswered.
His remarks came in the wake of the killings of Brigadier General Abbas Nilforoushan, a deputy commander of the Iranian Guard, and Hezbollah’s leader, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, during Israeli airstrikes in Beirut on Friday.
These Israeli attacks have escalated tensions in the region, particularly against Hezbollah in Lebanon and the Houthi militia in Yemen.

The increased military actions have raised fears that the ongoing conflict could spiral out of control and potentially involve Iran and the United States, Israel’s primary ally.
Kanaani stressed that “we stand strongly and we will act in a way that is regretful [for the enemy],” reiterating that while Iran does not seek war, it is prepared to respond if necessary.
He also indicated that Iran is closely coordinating with Lebanese authorities regarding the developments following the strikes that killed Nasrallah and Nilforoushan.
