Rahbar is the second lawmaker killed by the virus in Iran as seven other politicians died when the disease emerged.

Ekohotblog on March 1 reported that a newly elected member of parliament, Mohammed Ali Razamani  Dastak died from the flu-like virus after being hospitalized.

The deputy health minister, Iraj Harirchi, and another member of parliament, Mahmoud Sadeghi, said they have also contracted the virus.
