Ishaku Joins Ortom, Others On List Of Governors Losing Senatorial Bids

Results continue to troop in after Saturday’s presidential and national assembly elections.

The results have generated some surprises as some influential politicians, including sitting governors, have lost their senatorial bids.

The Plateau governor is the latest to lose his senatorial race.
Eko Hot Blog reports that Taraba State Governor, Darius Ishaku, has lost his bid to represent Taraba South Senatorial District in the National Assembly.

The governor lost the senatorial election that held last Saturday to his All Progressives Congress (APC) counterpart in the district, David Jimkuta.
Ishaku is the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the district.
Eko Hot Blog gathered that the APC candidate polled 85,415 votes to defeat the governor who raked in 45,708 votes.
The candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Michael Magaji came third with 4,133 votes.
Ishaku’s loss continues an uncommon trend of governors losing their senatorial bids.
Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom
Earlier, Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State lost his election bid for Benue North West Senatorial District.
The PDP senatorial candidate lost to his APC counterpart in the district, Titus Zam, who is also a former adviser to the governor.
Also, Plateau State Governor Simon Lalong, who is also the Director General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) lost the bid to clinch the Plateau South Senatorial District slot.

He lost to Rtd AVM Bali Ninkap Napoleon of the PDP in the National Assembly elections conducted on Saturday.

While announcing the results, the Returning Officer Professor Meshak Goyit declared that Bali Napoleon of PDP scored a total of 148,844 votes to defeat Governor Lalong of APC with 91,674 votes while Tobias Nda of the Labour Party scored 17,325 votes.
