The Imo State Independent Electoral Commission (ISIEC) has refuted a media report claiming that it has published the names of candidates from various political parties ahead of the September 21 local government elections.
In response to the report, ISIEC Chairman Charles Ejiogu issued a press statement urging political parties and the public to disregard the information, describing it as misleading and potentially disruptive to the Commission’s efforts to ensure a transparent election process.

Ejiogu clarified that the news alleging the release of candidate names is both inaccurate and misleading.
He stressed that, in accordance with the Commission’s constitutional guidelines and regulations, a list of candidates from all registered parties will only be released after the mandatory validation of their personal details as required by law.
