ISIS Clamps Down On Boko Haram Leaders Over Massive Surrenders To The Army
- The massive surrenders of the Boko Haram terrorists has caused confusion and concerns to the ISWAP fighters, especially in areas such as Kirta, Wulgo, Sabon Tumbu, Jubularam, Kwalaram, Sigir, Kayowa and Kurnawa and the Lake Chad.
The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) has clamped down on some leaders of Boko Haran and its factions in Nigeria over the recent massive surrenders to the Nigerian Army.
Some of the leaders of the terrorist group were also sacked by the ISIS for failing to sustain the reunification of the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) and the Boko Haram Fighters, following the death of Abubakar Shekau.

Following directives from ISIS, the ISWAP and Boko Haram leaders have formed a decision-making committee to probe the matter and reshuffle the leadership of the insurgent groups.
The massive surrenders of the Boko Haram terrorists has caused confusion and concerns to the ISWAP fighters, especially in areas such as Kirta, Wulgo, Sabon Tumbu, Jubularam, Kwalaram, Sigir, Kayowa and Kurnawa and the Lake Chad.
The Foundation for Investigative Journalism (FIJ) revealed how the terrorist groups experienced a shake-up in July, after losing some of their prominent leaders to military offensives.
A certain Abbah Gana was initially reappointed as the new leader of ISWAP. Gana had been expelled six months ago by the ISWAP council for allegedly betraying the confidence of his loyalists and top commanders. However, the al-Barnawiy-led committee reinstated Gana to lead what they termed the ISIS Caliphate of Africa or Wilaya of Africa in Nigeria, Chad, Niger and Cameroon. Malam Bako, a Boko Haram commander, was appointed his deputy (Na’ib) in that capacity.
Again, Gana has been sacked, following directives from ISIS. Aba Ibrahim, one of the commanders, is now the new ISWAP leader, while Malam Bako, Abdul-Kaka Sa’ad, Abu Ayun and Abba Kaka were appointed as the new members of the decision-making committee.
“The massive surrenders of Boko Haram fighters is largely due to loss of confidence, maltreatment, and growing of insurrections between the ISWAP and Member of the Jamā’at Ahl as-Sunnah lid-Da’wah Wa’l-Jihād (JAS) after the death of their leader Abubakar Shekau,” a source with the knowledge of the insurgents’ activities told PRNigeria..
“Many JAS fighters have been arrested and incarcerated in an ISWAP prison at Tumbum Kayowa for committing various crimes while those that were former Commanders and Amir’s were reduced as Junior fighters and marabout slaves within the ISWAP enclaves.
