Eko Hot Blog reports that Osama Hamadan, a senior spokesperson for Hamas, has stated in an interview with Al Jazeera that their intention is not to harm civilians.
Despite allegations from rights organizations like Amnesty International that Israeli civilians have been casualties of Hamas attacks, Hamadan made a distinction between settlers and civilians, claiming that settlers had attacked Palestinians. He expressed hope that Amnesty would provide more advanced weaponry to target only soldiers.
When asked if civilians in southern Israel were also considered settlers, Hamdan responded by saying, “Everyone knows there are settlements there.”
He emphasized, “We are not intentionally targeting civilians. We have declared that settlers are part of the occupation and part of the armed Israeli force. They are not civilians.”
