Israel Unveils Fresh Proposal for Gaza Border Area
Egypt is set to deliver Israel’s latest proposal for the Philadelphi corridor to Hamas, following a revised plan submitted by Israel on Thursday.
This move marks a crucial step towards securing a ceasefire agreement to end the fighting in Gaza.
According to a diplomat and an Israeli source familiar with the talks, the new proposal includes a map detailing the deployment of Israeli troops along the strategic corridor bordering Egypt.
Notably, the plan reduces the number of troops and military posts, a concession made by Israel after Egyptian negotiators rejected the previous map.
The Philadelphi corridor, a 14-kilometer strip of land in southern Gaza, has been a contentious issue in the ceasefire talks.

Israel has demanded control of the border zone, while Hamas insists on the withdrawal of Israeli troops. The revised proposal may help bridge this gap.
Hamas’ response to the new proposal will be pivotal in determining whether negotiators attend the expected summit in Cairo on Sunday.
If they do, it could lead to direct negotiations between the two sides, with Egyptian and Qatari mediators facilitating the talks.
The revised proposal is a result of an extensive meeting between Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his negotiating team, which followed a conversation with US President Joe Biden.
Biden urged Netanyahu to show flexibility on the Philadelphi corridor, paving the way for this breakthrough.
