EKO HOT BLOG reports that Israeli airstrikes in the southern Gaza city of Rafah overnight claimed the lives of 18 individuals, including 14 children, as health officials reported on Sunday.
Despite international appeals for restraint, Israel persisted with near-daily air raids on Rafah, where over half of Gaza’s population has sought refuge.
The House of Representatives greenlit a $26 billion aid package, with approximately $9 billion allocated for humanitarian assistance for Gaza.
The initial strike tragically claimed the lives of a man, his wife, and their 3-year-old child, with the woman being pregnant.
However, doctors managed to save the unborn baby. Subsequently, another strike targeted a family, resulting in the deaths of 13 children and two women.
This followed a previous airstrike in Rafah, which killed nine people, including six children.
The Israel-Hamas conflict has left a devastating toll, with over 34,000 Palestinians killed and significant destruction across Gaza.
Regional tensions escalated, with Israel and the U.S. facing off against Iran and its allied militant groups.
Direct exchanges of fire between Israel and Iran heightened fears of broader conflict.
Tensions also surged in the Israeli-occupied West Bank, as Israeli forces reported neutralizing two Palestinians who attacked a checkpoint near Hebron.
Palestinian casualties in the West Bank have reached at least 469 since the conflict’s onset, primarily during military operations and protests.
The conflict was sparked by a raid into southern Israel by Hamas and other militants, resulting in numerous casualties and abductions.
Thousands of Israelis have demanded new elections and a hostage release deal with Hamas.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed to pursue the conflict until Hamas is eradicated and all hostages are freed.
The toll on Gaza has been immense, with over 34,000 Palestinians killed and nearly 77,000 wounded, the majority being women and children.
