The Israeli military has intensified its operations in the occupied West Bank, launching a raid on the Nur Shams refugee camp that resulted in the deaths of two Palestinian women, including one who was eight months pregnant.
According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, Israeli troops opened fire on a Palestinian family during the assault, killing 23-year-old Sondos Jamal Muhammad Shalabi and critically wounding her husband. Medical teams were unable to save her unborn child, as Israeli forces reportedly blocked their evacuation to a hospital.

In a separate incident, 21-year-old Rahaf Fouad Abdullah al-Ashqar was also shot and killed inside her home, the ministry said.
Palestine’s Wafa news agency reported that the Israeli military stormed the camp in the early hours of Sunday, deploying heavy machinery and bulldozers while reconnaissance aircraft flew overhead. Residents described hearing intense gunfire and large explosions.
The Palestinian Islamic Jihad’s Tulkarem Battalion claimed it had repelled an Israeli infiltration attempt into Nur Shams. Meanwhile, the Palestine Red Crescent Society stated that Israeli troops prevented its medical teams from reaching the wounded inside the camp.
The Israeli military justified the operation by saying it was targeting “disruptive activities” in the area and has since imposed a curfew.
The raid on Nur Shams comes amid a broader Israeli offensive in the northern West Bank, which has included attacks on Jenin, Tulkarem, and the Far’a refugee camp in Tubas governorate. More than 26,000 Palestinians have been displaced in Jenin and Tulkarem in recent weeks due to escalating violence.

Since the announcement of a ceasefire in Gaza last month, Israel has ramped up its military activities in the occupied West Bank.
According to Wafa, Israeli reinforcements have been deployed toward Far’a camp from the Hamra checkpoint, with troops systematically demolishing infrastructure and private properties. Security forces have conducted widespread home raids and interrogations, forcibly displacing dozens of families, some of whom are now taking shelter in schools. At least eight Palestinians have been arrested in Far’a.
