“It’s Cruel, Uncivilised”, Says Shehu Sani On Sowore’s Arrest
Shehu Sani, former Kaduna Central Senator, says the arrest of a former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore is unhelpful to the nation’s image
Ekohotblog had reported how Sowore, who is publisher of SaharaReporters, was apprehended alongside other activists during a peaceful protest in Abuja on Friday.
According to Sahara Reporters, police officers attacked and arrested the protesters during a peaceful procession to mark the New Year in Abuja.
Reacting to Sowore’s arrest on Friday, Sani said the development will further dent an already battered image of the nation.
In a post on his official twitter page, Sani said the government move was ‘unhelpful’ to the country’s constitution.
He described the arrest of the protesters as “cruel and uncivilized”

“The case of @YeleSowore; it’s unhelpful to the nation’s image and its constitutional democracy when peaceful protesters are treated in the most cruel and uncivilized manner by the state apparatuses.
“The new year’s door is opened with a hammer instead of the key,” Sani tweeted
