EKO HOT BLOG reports that Ini Edo, a Nigerian actress and filmmaker, has addressed rumors that she underwent cosmetic surgery, stating that it is not anyone’s place to dictate how a woman should look.
In an interview with Pulse, the actress was asked about body enhancement procedures, which have become popular among many Nigerian female celebrities.
Edo stated that it is wrong to judge people who engage in the trend, and everyone has the right to live the way they want. She neither accepted nor debunked the speculation of cosmetic surgery, but rather focused on the importance of self-confidence.
According to Edo, people’s self-confidence begins to dwindle because of the constant negative remarks from others. She urged women to be their own person and make their own choices, regardless of what others may say.
She added that nobody has the right to dictate how a woman should look, and it is entirely up to the individual to decide what works best for them. Edo also highlighted the impact of negative comments on individuals, particularly women in the entertainment industry.
She recalled a time when people would tell her to lose weight, and noted that such comments could affect one’s self-confidence. Edo advised individuals to grow to a point where they realize that it is their body, their life, and nobody else has the right to tell them what to do or not to do.
Ini Edo concluded by saying that people should do whatever works for them as long as they are able to live with the consequences of their actions, adding that it is entirely their prerogative.
In her words that were quoted, she said:
“I mean, I just feel like anybody who sits around judging people, nobody has a right to tell anybody how to live their lives or who to be or who not to be. It’s not your place. You don’t have that right.
“And so for me, I say to people who do that, I’m like, you first of all have to be able to dictate the pace of your life to be able to dictate somebody else’s pace. It makes no sense that you have no control over your own life and you’re trying to think that it’s okay to have control over somebody else’s life, it doesn’t make any sense. And I say to women, you be your own person.”
