EKO HOT BLOG reports that TalkSPORT presenter and Arsenal fan Laura Woods has claimed that finishing second to Manchester City in the Premier League title race would not be a “failure” for her team.
Woods made the statement on a talkSPORT broadcast, highlighting that Arsenal were not expected to compete for the title this season. Before the season began, City were expected to defend their title, with Liverpool anticipated to be their closest challengers.

Last season, Arsenal self-destructed in their bid for a top-four finish, losing to Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United in quick succession. This led to criticism of Mikel Arteta’s methods, which were shown on the All or Nothing docuseries.
However, the Gunners have been leading the league since the start of the season and even opened up an 11-point gap on City at one point. Despite drawing with Liverpool last weekend, which saw Aaron Ramsdale save the game after Arsenal was two goals down, they still have a six-point lead.
Nonetheless, they are at risk of finding themselves behind their rivals when they face City at the end of the month, considering that Guardiola’s team has a game in hand, which makes them the bookies’ favorites again.
Woods argued that Arsenal had exceeded expectations by being in contention for the title this late in the season. “Come the New Year, Arsenal was supposed to fall away and they haven’t. They have proved everyone wrong,” she said. She also added that there are many other things to celebrate in football beyond just winning the league, and therefore, it wouldn’t be a failure if they missed out on the title.

However, sources suggest that many others, including Arteta, would consider it a failure to not get over the line, given that Arsenal is in a strong position to win the title this season.
