Eko Hot Blog reports that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has announced the appointment of Speaker of House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila as Chief of Staff.
The development was announced in a statement issued by Director of Information in the Presidency, Abiodun Oladunjoye on Friday.
According to Oladunjoye, the president also appointed Sen. Ibrahim Hassan Hadejia, a former Deputy Governor of Jigawa State, as Deputy Chief of Staff.
In a meeting with Progressives Governors Forum (PGF), the President also named former Governor of Benue State and immediate past Minister of Special Duties, George Akume, Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF).
Gbajabiamila’s appointment comes after months of speculations that he would be Tinubu’s chief of staff.
After the president’s victory in the February 25 election, the House speaker was often seen with him on trips, triggering speculations that he would lead the presidential staff.
Gbajabiamila is expected to resign as speaker of the house. The lawmaker representing Surulere Federal Constituency will also resign his membership of the lower chamber.
