President Muhammadu Buhari says the killing of three students of Greenfield University in Kaduna state is tragic and condemnable.
Gunmen had attacked the institution on Tuesday and abducted some students.
Ekohotblog had reported how three of the abducted students were later found dead on Friday in Kwanan Bature village, a location close to the university.
In a statement on Saturday, Buhari commiserates with family of the slain students, describing the sustained and recurring killing in Kaduna state as barbaric.
“The killing of three of the students kidnapped at Greenfield University, Kaduna, is tragic and condemnable. Three young Nigerians cut down by in their prime, by evil people. My thoughts are with their families in this time of grief. May their souls Rest In Peace,” the president said.
Buhari added that his administration would do everything possible to rid the country of all manner of criminality.
“These recurring kidnappings and killings, in Kaduna State in particular, are barbaric, terror attacks. We are determined to continue fighting all forms of banditry, kidnapping and criminality with maximum will and with all the resources available to our country.”

He, however, warned politicians and religious leaders against stoking tension and fanning the embers of disunity.
He implored them to refrain from making inciting remarks would further worsen the situation, adding that what is needed now is the empathy and unity of all citizens.
“Let me add that it is unfortunate the tenor of some political and religious leaders that seem to further incite and stoke the pain and anguish of mourning families who are forced to confront these atrocities,” he said.
“Addressing this scourge requires a great show of empathy and coming together as a society to squarely confront these elements and the danger they pose to our democracy and peaceful life in the country. Nigeria will triumph over evil!”
