EKO HOT BLOG reports that Nollywood actress, Iyabo Ojo, has raised serious allegations against the Lagos State Government, claiming that the recent increase in her tax revenue is an act of targeted persecution.

According to Ojo, she believes that the motive behind this action is her public support for the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, during the previous presidential election.

Speaking during a live session on Instagram with her fans, Iyabo Ojo presented evidence of her tax payments while expressing her concerns. She revealed that a close friend had informed her about the sudden surge in her tax amount, suggesting that it was a direct consequence of her endorsement of Peter Obi’s candidacy.

Asserting her right to support any political candidate of her choosing, Ojo emphasized that her support was not driven by personal gain, unlike some of her colleagues who she claims engage in “stomach infrastructure” politics.

The actress further alleged that during the election, the All Progressives Congress (APC) had gathered certain Nollywood stars at a specific location and instructed them to boycott her events.

Ojo voiced her intention to disclose the names of her colleagues involved in the boycott at an appropriate time, promising to bring their actions to light. She expressed her frustration, stating,

“As an influencer and actress, how do they come up with these outrageous amounts? I’m not saying I won’t pay, but the amount is too much. Someone very close to me told me that he heard about the increase in tax two weeks ago because he is within the caucus, and it’s because you support Peter Obi, and I don’t care.”

The actress continued, asserting her right to support the candidate of her choice:

“I will support whoever I want to support because it is my right to do so. I’m not fighting anybody, and I don’t have issues with anybody. When I said I have empathy for my country and not for stomach infrastructure, I know what I’m saying, and I said that because I have heard a lot of rubbish from some of my so-called colleagues, who they camped in one place to do an election and they came up with the decision that they should boycott me and not come for my events.”

While refraining from revealing names at the moment, Iyabo Ojo affirmed her determination to expose her colleagues and give them the publicity they seemingly sought. Responding to claims of tax evasion, the actress invited individuals to visit her office and inspect her receipts as evidence of her compliance.
