Jang, Lalong, APC In Dispute Over PDP G-5 Endorsement Of Tinubu

  • A disagreement between Jang and Lalong arose over the purported support of the PDP G-5 for Tinubu.

  • While Jang was of the belief that the G-5 could not endorse Tinubu, Lalong insisted that they were working for him secretly.

  • The disagreement was triggered after Jang criticised Lalong’s claim and accused him of making baseless assertions.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that Benue’s Senator Jonah Jang and Governor Simon Lalong got into a verbal fight over whether the G-5 Governors, led by River’s Governor, Nyesom Wike, have decided to support the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

In contrast to Plateau Governor Lalong, who was adamant that the G-5 Governors were secretly working for APC presidential candidate, his predecessor Jang believed that the G-5 could not endorse Tinubu.

EDITOR’S PICKS

Hence, Jang harshly slammed Lalong for his claim in a statement that was written by his media aide Clinton Garuba and released in Jos over the weekend.

In reaction to the bashing from Jang, Plateau Media and APC PCC press secretary, Sylvanus Naman, disputed Jang’s assertions in Jos, stating that Jang erred in his interpretation of Lalong’s claim.

The statement reads: “To say that the G5 Governors have not taken a position on their support for the APC Presidential Candidate is a confirmation of his fear for a Bola Ahmed Tinubu unstoppable victory at the polls.

“He has suddenly remembered how Jonathan lost out in 2015, which he was at the centre of it.

“As stated earlier, Senator Jonah Jang is an outsider of the Integrity Group who is hardly conversant with their internal modus operandi.

“The Director General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, Governor Simon Lalong could not be speaking nonsense as claimed by Jang’s Media Consultant. In fact, he got it totally wrong.

“Where they met and decided to wisely pitch their tent with BAT would not be known to Jang but Lalong is not only privy to it but must be part and parcel of the discussion.

“One does not need the service of a political pundit to tell us that the G5 or Integrity Group have since called it quit with the Atiku ticket. Do we need a better confirmation of Governor Lalong’s assertion than the one coming from the horse’s mouth and pillar of the G5 himself, the steely Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike when he recently responded to a journalist’s inquiry thus;

“Yes, it is true that I have directed all Local Government Chairmen, Commissioners, Board Chairmen, Senior Special Advisers, Special Advisers, Senior Special Assistants, DGs, Board Members and all my aides to work for Bola Ahmed Tinubu and I owe no one any apology?

“The G5 Governors are patriots who have decided to go with a very patriotic Nigerian in the person of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu rather than presidential candidates with divisive tendencies.
