EKO HOT BLOG reports that Billboard and Vibe have ranked Jay-Z and Nicki Minaj as the greatest male and female rappers of all time as hip-hop celebrates its 50th anniversary this year.

The magazines have been counting down their list of the Top 50 Greatest Rappers of All Time over the past month and have now revealed the final top 10.

The rankings were determined based on various criteria such as the body of work/achievements, cultural impact/influence, longevity, lyrics, and flow.

Other female MCs on the list include Lil Kim (No. 31), Lauryn Hill (No. 30), and Missy Elliott (No. 19); however, Nicki Minaj was the only woman to make it into the top 10.

Billboard praised Nicki Minaj for blazing the trail for the next generation of female MCs and building a legacy that is not limited to the hip-hop world.

Jay-Z was named the greatest rapper of all time for his longevity, the breadth of his accomplishments, and his impact on hip-hop. He has a career that spans over three decades.
