Jay-Z Seeks Dismissal Of Sexual Assault Lawsuit Over Alleged 2000 Incident

Jay-Z’s lawyer has called for the dismissal of a lawsuit accusing him and Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs of raping a 13-year-old girl in 2000, citing inconsistencies in her allegations.

The plaintiff, identified as Jane Doe, claims the two musicians drugged and assaulted her at a house party after the MTV Video Music Awards.

She also alleges her father drove five hours to pick her up afterward, though he told NBC News he doesn’t recall the event. Additionally, one celebrity she implicated was reportedly on tour during the alleged incident.

In an NBC interview, the woman admitted to “some mistakes” in her account but maintained her claim. Advocates for sexual assault survivors note that memory lapses are not uncommon in cases involving trauma or drugging.

The lawsuit is among numerous sexual assault claims against Combs, who faces separate federal sex-trafficking charges in New York and has been denied bail three times. Combs denies all allegations.

Jay-Z’s attorney, Alex Spiro, criticized the lawsuit, stating, “It is stunning that a lawyer would file such a serious complaint without proper vetting.” The rapper, born Shawn Carter, accused attorney Tony Buzbee of pursuing the case for “money and fame.”

“This incident didn’t happen and yet he filed it in court and doubled down in the press,” his statement said.

“True Justice is coming. We fight FROM victory, not FOR victory. This was over before it began. This 1-800 lawyer doesn’t realize it yet, but, soon.”
