Eko Hot Blog reports that renowned Nollywood legend, Prince Jide Kosoko, marked his 70th birthday on January 14, 2024, with a special thanksgiving service and a grand reception at his residence.
The day commenced with a heartfelt thanksgiving at the Embrace International Assembly Church in Ikorodu, Lagos. Pastor Isaac Adeyemi delivered an insightful message, highlighting the significance of 70 years as a year of strength and the dawn of old age, encouraging the celebrant to “refire” rather than retire.
Representing the first lady of Nigeria, Oluremi Tinubu, Hon. Wahab Alawuye King conveyed warm wishes, acknowledging Prince Babajide Kosoko’s outstanding contributions to the movie industry. The first lady praised his impact on lives, shaping perceptions and inspiring people within Nigeria and beyond, by stating,
“Seventy hearty cheers with an outstanding record, Prince Babajide Kosoko. I happily felicitate with you and your family on this joyous occasion of your 70th birthday. Your profound contribution to the movie industry has impacted lives, shaped perceptions, and inspired so many people in our country and beyond.”
“As you celebrate this milestone, may this day bring you immense joy and fulfillment. May the Almighty God give you strength, good health, and peace as you continue to contribute to the advancement of our society.”
The celebrant, accompanied by his family, expressed gratitude through dance and received a gift from Pastor Adeyemi. The Gospel Musicians Association of Nigeria also honored Pastor Adeyemi for his significant support to their craft and ministry.
The reception witnessed the presence of prominent personalities, especially from the Nollywood industry, including Adebayo Salami, Dele Odule, Yinka Quadri, Ogogo, Saidi Balogun, and more.
Sola Kosoko, Prince Kosoko’s daughter, delivered a warm welcome address, setting the tone for a joyous celebration. Colleagues in the industry paid tributes, followed by a goodwill message from Sen. Adetokunbo Abiru, represented by Hon. Enitan Olukotun.
The atmosphere was filled with joy, feasting, celebration, and dancing. Prince Kosoko, surrounded by family and colleagues, cut the birthday cake amidst cheers and a chorus of birthday songs.
In his appreciative speech, he expressed gratitude for God’s faithfulness, reflecting on the challenges faced in the early days of his career. Prince Kosoko concluded,
“If the hairs on my head were full of tongues, they’re not enough to thank God. Sometimes I feel like my parents made a mistake with my age because I feel like I’m just a 40-year-old man.”
“If I look at the challenges I faced when I started this work that my parents didn’t support or the ones his colleagues in the industry carried out, with the responsibilities faced at home, isn’t that enough to think about?”
“But in all, I want to say thank God. Seventy years is really a milestone for me. May God continually keep. I appreciate you all and say thank you. May God continue to keep you all.”
The celebration concluded with photographs capturing cherished memories and heartfelt well-wishes from friends and family.
