Jigawa State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Shi’isu Adam, confirmed the clash in a press statement, explaining that the incident took place between communities in the Jahun Local Government Area.
He said that while a number of people were reported dead, some others are still receiving medical treatment.
Adam described the events leading up to the clash, stating, “On January 3, 2025, information from Gululu village in Miga LGA indicated that a group of suspected Fulani miscreants broke into a shop, stealing hibiscus and other provisions. A group of villagers (Hausawa) traced their tracks to a Fulani settlement camp in Yankunama village, Jahun LGA.”
“Upon seeing the villagers, the Fulani individuals opened fire on them with bows and arrows, critically injuring four. The villagers then mobilized, retaliating by attacking the Fulani and setting their houses on fire across Miga and Jahun LGAs.”

Unfortunately, he confirmed that nine bodies were recovered, and they were transported to Jahun and Miga hospitals, where they were officially declared dead.
