The Portuguese full-back has joined the Bundesliga champions on loan until the end of the season, with an option to buy for €70 million.
Cancelo’s move from the Premier League champions to the Bundesliga giants has come as a surprise, especially given that Manchester City does not appear to have a direct replacement for the attacking full-back.

However, Cancelo has now come forward to clear the air about his departure from the Etihad Stadium.
In a recent press conference, Cancelo stated:
“There was a lot of speculation about my relationship with Pep Guardiola, but the truth is that I just wanted to get more playing minutes. And I see that opportunity at Bayern.”
He further added:
“I didn’t ask Pep Guardiola about Bayern Munich. Everything happened too quickly for that. I feel ready to start straight away. I would like to put on the Bayern shirt and get going as soon as possible.”
Cancelo also expressed his gratitude towards Manchester City and stated:
“I have had a great time at Manchester City, it has always been much appreciated there. I’m still under contract with City too.”
