EKO HOT BLOG reports that Robbie Fowler, former Liverpool striker nicknamed by the fans as ‘God’, has urged Jurgen Klopp to sign Newcastle United midfielder Joelinton for Liverpool this summer.
Despite being linked with several midfielders, Klopp is expected to oversee a squad rebuild after Liverpool’s inconsistent form and injury issues this season left them unlikely to qualify for Champions League football.
Fowler has called Joelinton the “perfect player for Liverpool” in an interview with the Sunday Mirror. The Brazilian midfielder has slowly become one of the most feared midfielders in the Premier League and has been instrumental in Newcastle’s push towards European football.
Michael Owen, another former Newcastle and Liverpool striker, has also praised Joelinton’s development under new manager Eddie Howe. Owen said that Joelinton was once a laughing stock, but he has become one of the best players in the league.
Joelinton currently earns £80,000 per week according to SalarySport. He initially struggled to make an impact at Newcastle but has since become a key player for the club.
It remains to be seen how much Liverpool would need to pay to acquire the midfielder’s services if Klopp decides to pursue Fowler’s suggestion.
