According to a statement obtained on Sunday from the Director of Public Affairs at the Office of the Secretary to the State Government, Olumiyiwa Ojelabi, the appeal has been made during sensitization campaigns in Igando-Ikotun, Ikeja, Surulere, and Ikorodu local councils.

While addressing youths, traditional rulers, community leaders, and parents across various locations, the SSG stressed that the ongoing campaign aligns with the Federal Government’s directive to bolster military strength across the country.

She said the initiative aims to correct the widely held belief that joining the army equates to a death sentence.

“This awareness campaign, backed by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, is about preparing our young men and women in Lagos to serve both state and nation with excellence, integrity, and pride,” she said.

She stressed the importance of creating an environment where young Lagosians can aspire to and attain top-ranking positions within the military, ensuring that they play a key role in shaping the future of the armed forces.

Salu-Hundeyin reaffirmed Governor Sanwo-Olu’s commitment to the cause, stating that the Lagos State Government would provide essential welfare support to candidates from the state.

This support is intended to ensure a smooth and successful military journey, from registration through training and beyond.

Participants were informed that the recruitment exercise is open to indigenous youths possessing a minimum of four O’Level credits in one or two sittings.

At the Surulere and Ikorodu events, Permanent Secretary of the Cabinet Office Kehinde Gbajumo, representing the SSG, further underlined the significance of grassroots sensitization.
