EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Ijaw Youths Council (IYC) Worldwide has sworn to shut down the economy If anything bad by chance happens to the former president, Goodluck Jonathan.
Two of the president’s security aides were killed when his convoy was involved in an accident.
Jonathan said in a statement that the two died near the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.
In reaction to the tragedy, the IYC urged security officials to investigate the incident and make the details surrounding the accident public.
IYC National President, Peter Timothy Igbifa, claimed in a statement released in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, that the accident was a calculated attempt by some conspirators to end the former president’s life ahead of the 2023 general elections.
According to him, the orderlies acted as human shields to protect Jonathan, paying the ultimate price in the process.
He described the orderlies’ actions as the apex of self-sacrifice, saying that the Niger Delta region and the entire Ijaw nation will never forget their bravery.
“It’s clear that some people want to assassinate the former President. They want him to perish. And we feel it has something to do with the fact that his name keeps cropping up in the next 2023 election.”
“To such satanic agents, the only way to stop the rumoured plot to bring Jonathan back to Aso Rock in 2023 is to kill him.” “There is nothing desperate politicians who perceive others as a danger to their goals in Nigeria can’t do,” he stated.
If anything happened to Jonathan, Igbifa said, the entire Niger Delta and the Ijaw nation would rise in an unprecedented revolution.
Jonathan, he said, was not only a valuable asset to the country but also a rare and beloved gift to the globe because of his desire for peace and the establishment of democratic values in Africa and around the world.
He urged security authorities to ramp up security around Jonathan, claiming that it would be a national humiliation if he was killed in a staged accident.
“We can accept all the insults and marginalization that is thrown at us as a people, but we cannot make attempts on the lives of our idols,” he stated.
“Those opposed to Jonathan’s return to Aso Rock should instead look for more nonviolent means to stop him rather than resorting to violence, which may throw the entire country into chaos.”
“Any Niger Deltan running for President, regardless of the political party, will face the same challenges.” Rather than trying to take their lives, defeat them politically.
