Kinsmen of former President Goodluck Jonathan in the Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State have decried the secretive sale of the Kolo Creek Gas Turbine at Imiringi.
Ekohotblog gathered that the gas turbine which was reported purchase by unknown buyers supplies electricity to the area and some parts of the state.
The traditional rulers of the Emeyal clan, in a statement by King N.D Amakuro, frowned at the development and described it as “fraudulent and provocative.”
According to a statement made available to newsmen, which was also signed by Chief Iwolisi Jephthah and Mr Egbo Masi, the selling of the gas turbine was an attempt to underdevelop and alienate the Ogbia Kingdom from Bayelsa State and the good things of life.
The statement partly read, “For eight years, the facility was grounded and the entire Ogbia Kingdom kept in darkness and no effort was made to re-activate the gas turbine only for it to be sold.
“We will resist any attempt by any individual, group of persons or organisation to remove the gas turbine from its present location at Imiringi.”
The traditional rulers called on the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission as well as the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to beam their searchlights into the alleged criminal sale of the gas turbine and bring those involved to book.
