EKO HOT BLOG reports that Super Eagles head coach, Jose Peseiro, has announced a 23-man squad for the team’s upcoming 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier double-header against Guinea-Bissau.
The list, which was unveiled on Thursday, includes regulars like Victor Osimhen, Moses Simon, Samuel Chukwueze, Wilfred Ndidi, and Kelechi Iheanacho.
Among the notable inclusions is Rivers United goalkeeper, Victor Sochima, who earned his maiden invitation to the team. Also, Boavista defender, Bruno Onyemaechi, was invited for the second time. In addition, two Flying Eagles players, Chijoke Aniagboso, and Daniel Bamaiyi were included in the squad.
However, Vice-captain William Troost-Ekong missed out due to injury, while Torino defender, Ola Aina, was surprisingly absent. Peseiro also dropped former first-choice goalkeeper, Maduka Okoye, from the squad.
The Super Eagles will play the Djurtus in the first leg of the qualifier at the Moshood Abiola Stadium on Friday, March 24. The reverse fixture is scheduled to take place in Bissau four days later.
