Joseph Tegbe Leads Nigerian Delegation to Deepen Nigeria – China Economic Cooperation

Joseph Tegbe, Director-General of the Nigeria-China Strategic Partnership (NCSP), is currently in China to strengthen relations between the two nations and promote economic and sustainable development in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s renewed Hope agenda.

Eko Hot Blog gathered that Tegbe accompanied by a Nigerian delegation, visited the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) headquarters on Monday, where they were received by NDRC Deputy Chairman Zhao Chenxin and other top officials, as well as the Nigerian diplomatic community and Chinese business leaders.

The primary goal of Tegbe’s visit is to establish strategic agreements in key sectors such as agriculture, renewable energy, healthcare, mining, education, and technology, while also supporting China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).

Through this initiative, Nigeria can leverage its resources and human capital to develop key industries, bolster infrastructure, and enhance youth capacity through skills acquisition programmes.

Throughout their visit, the delegation is scheduled to engage with various Chinese entities, including government institutions, financial bodies, and prominent companies.

The NCSP delegation’s itinerary includes meetings with the Central Development Bank,Ministry of Foreign Affairs, China Export-Import Bank, China Development Bank, and Power China representatives. Additionally, they will visit CCECC, CHEC, CNCEC, CCECC Chairman, and CSCS Haishen Medical, among others.

The initiative follows President Bola Tinubu’s official visit to China before the 2024 Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), where he discussed enhanced economic cooperation with Chinese President Xi Jinping.

During the summit, President Jinping pledged 360 billion Yuan (approximately $51 billion) in financing for African nations over the next three years and support for 30 infrastructure projects to improve connectivity across the continent.

Last week, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi visited Nigeria to further reinforce the growing partnership between China and Africa, particularly Nigeria.

The two nations discussed deepening trade, investment, industrialization, and security cooperation to achieve mutual development goals.
