EKO HOT BLOG reports that Sadio Mane, a Bayern Munich forward and former Liverpool player, has expressed his confidence in Liverpool’s current manager, Jurgen Klopp, as the right man to lead the Reds back to glory, despite the team’s struggles this season.
Liverpool is having its worst season since Klopp’s arrival in 2015, having been eliminated early from both domestic cups and being on the verge of Champions League elimination after a 5-2 loss against Real Madrid last week.
The club currently sits in seventh place in the Premier League table, nine points behind the top four.
In an interview with German outlet Bild, Mane spoke about his former club, saying, “Liverpool will be back, I am convinced they’ll overcome this situation. They had many injuries and tough tests, but Jurgen Klopp is definitely the right man. He’ll lead Liverpool back up from this season – the players love him.”
Mane left Liverpool last summer to join Bayern Munich, but he maintains a close relationship with his former manager and teammates. Klopp has faced criticism this season for his team’s poor form, which some fans attribute to a lack of depth in the squad due to injuries and the absence of key players.
Liverpool has struggled to maintain its form this season, despite having won the Premier League last season. The team’s defensive struggles have been particularly evident, with several key players being sidelined due to injuries. However, Klopp has remained optimistic about his team’s chances, and he recently said that he believes Liverpool can still finish in the top four this season.
Liverpool will face Real Madrid in the second leg of their Champions League round of 16 where they will need to overturn a three-goal deficit to progress to the next round.
