Liverpool Build On Their Consistent Form With A 4-1 Loss At The Etihad
Speaking to the media after the game, Klopp stated that only four of his players performed well and that 14 or 15 players needed to be at their best to have any chance of getting a result against City.
He identified Jordan Henderson and Fabinho as the two midfielders who worked tirelessly throughout the game, while Cody Gakpo and Alisson were the other two players who received praise.
“Four performances were okay, the two midfielders, Hendo [Jordan Henderson] and Fab [Fabinho], worked a lot, Cody [Gakpo] and Ali [Alisson] and that is very difficult,” Klopp said. “If you want to get something here, 14 or 15 players have to be on top of their game, and that was not the case.”
Liverpool now find themselves in eighth place in the Premier League table with 42 points from 27 games. The defeat to City was their third in their last five league matches, and Klopp’s men will need to improve their form if they are to secure a top-four finish this season.
