However, Liverpool reportedly pulled out of the race to sign Bellingham this week, prompting questions about Klopp’s future at the club. During a press conference, the German coach was asked whether he would quit Liverpool over the Bellingham saga, to which he gave a snappy response.

“This is my club,” Klopp said. “You want to suggest I quit here and wait for the next top job? Really? This is my club.”

Klopp went on to clarify that he was not angry about Liverpool’s inability to sign Bellingham, saying that he was a professional who was used to working within the club’s budget constraints.

“If I am angry, we don’t all of a sudden have more money or the resources to do everything,” Klopp said. “So it’s rubbish [to get angry], it’s not ok – I’m too much of a professional. You work with it. Make the best of it. We are not children.”

Klopp drew a comparison between Bellingham’s transfer saga and a child wanting a Ferrari for Christmas, saying that it was important to be realistic about what was possible. “If this kid then spends his whole life unhappy because he cannot get a Ferrari, then that is a sad life,” Klopp said.
