EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Abia State House of Assembly, on Tuesday, May 2, passed a vote of no confidence on its speaker, Hon. Chinedum Orji.
The grounds for Mr. Chinedum’s impeachment remain unknown at the time of filing this report.
However, a senior member of the House hailing from Abia North Senatorial District, who chose to remain anonymous, provided authoritative confirmation of the legislators’ actions.
Hon. Kennedy Njoku representing Osisioma North moved the motion of impeachment and was seconded by Hon. Ifeanyi Uchendu who represents Ohafia South.
Mr Orji, representing Umuahia Central State Constituency, lost February 25 national assembly poll for Ikwuano/Umuahia North/Umuahia South Federal Constituency.
Mr Orji, son of the former Governor Theodore Orji, lost to the Labour Party (LP) candidate, Obi Aguocha in the last concluded general elections.
Operatives of the Nigerian Police Force have reportedly taken charge of the entrance gate of the State Assembly, based on available information, in order to prevent any possible breakdown of law and order
