EKO HOT BLOG gathered that the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Abdullahi Adamu has reportedly gone incognito after unilaterally declaring Senate President Ahmad Lawan as the party consensus presidential candidate.
This online media learnt that crisis is brewing in the leadership of the APC after the party chairman claimed Buhari had anointed Lawan get the ticket, a claim that was later denied by the presidency.
According to reports, despite activities being in top gear ahead of the National Convention of the APC, Abdullahi Adamu’s whereabouts have been largely unknown.
Adamu who is suspected to have gone underground after his failed imposition was not at the office when APC governors arrived to hold a meeting with him over unresolved issues dogging the convention.
It was learnt that President Muhammadu Buhari had asked the governors to meet with Abdullahi Adamu and settle issues around zoning and consensus of the party’s presidential ticket.
“We don’t know where he disappeared to and the governors and other important people are saying they have to see him urgently,” a senior party official said.
“It is hard to believe that the chairman could just leave his office and switch off his phones like that.”
The Kebbi Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, who led other governors, was compelled to meet only with other members of the National Working Committee (NWC) at the party’s headquarters.
The meeting was presided over by Abubakar Kyari, deputy national chairman north at the NEC Hall of the party’s national secretariat.
Meanwhile, some members of the ruling APC have demanded the resignation of Senator Abdullahi Adamu as the national chairman.
The members, including party delegates and leaders, said Adamu has demonstrated irresponsibility by single-handedly announcing the choice of Senate President Ahmad Lawan as the consensus presidential candidate of the party for the 2023 elections.

They further accused him of lying as the President, Buhari had debunked endorsing Lawan contrary to claims by the APC National Chairman.
Similarly, the state Governors, as well as the National Working Committee of the party, also denied endorsing Lawan.
