Eko Hot Blog reports that the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has announced the name of senators constituting the majority leadership of the tenth Senate.
The senate president made the announcement on Tuesday when the upper chamber resumed plenary after a three-week vacation.
Akpabio revealed that the leaders, who are all of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), emerged through consensus.
He disclosed that Opeyemi Bamidele, the senator representing Ekiti Central Senatorial District, emerged as the Senate Majority Leader.
David Umahi, the senator representing Ebonyi South Senatorial District, also emerged as the Deputy Majority Leader.
Also, Mohammed Ali Ndume, the senator representing Borno South Senatorial District, was chosen as the Senate Majority Whip.
Lastly, Lola Ashiru, the senator representing Kwara South Senatorial District, emerged as the Deputy Majority Whip.
The minority caucus of the Senate, made up of mostly members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), has also announced its leaders.
Simon Mwadkwon, the senator representing Plateau North and a PDP member emerged as the minority leader of the upper legislative chamber.
Senator Oyewumi Olalere emerged as the deputy minority leader, Senator Darlington Nwokocha, minority whip, and Senator Rufai Anga, deputy minority whip.
