JUST IN: APC Chieftain Dumps Party For PDP
- A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dumped the party for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
EKO HOT BLOG reports that All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Representatives candidate for Makurdi/Guma Federal Constituency in the 2019 elections, Engineer Conrad Utaan, has defected from the party to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The APC chieftain made his defection known on Friday when he led a number of APC party chairmen, elders, and other supporters to pay a courtesy visit to Governor Samuel Ortom at the Benue Peoples House in Makurdi, the state capital.
Utaan, who declared that the APC has now gone beyond repairs, said the level of impunity bedeviling the party has sunk it beyond redemption.
“I am leaving APC because I won’t continue to be a member of a 419 party which thrives on injustice, impunity, and illegality,” he said.
Utaan added that the last purported ward congresses of the APC have buried the party in Benue State.
He further stressed that 243 persons, who bought forms to contest for various positions, were locked out by the party.

He, however, described Governor Ortom as a visionary and prophetic leader who saw the future, adding that insecurity in Nigeria has risen to a disturbing height that requires the concern of every Nigerian.
Responding, Ortom expressed his appreciation to God for bringing his political son, Terhide Utaan, back to him, saying in politics, there is no permanent friend or enemy but interest.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that Governor Ortom further stated that the event was not strange as he had done a similar thing when he left the PDP to actualise his gubernatorial ambition in the APC in 2015 and back to the PDP in 2019 for his reelection.
