Professor Sunday Olawale Okeniyi, on Sunday has been declared the new Vice Chancellor of the Atiba University, Oyo (AUO).
Okeniyi is the current President of Chemical Society of Nigeria (CSN), a former Acting Academy Provost (Vice Chancellor) at the Nigerian Defence Academy from 2012 to 2015.
He is a Fellow of the Chemical Society of Nigeria (FCSN), a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Chemists of Nigeria (FICCON).
The new VC is a professor of Chemistry and has carried out extensive research in the area of Pharmaceutical & Medicinal Analysis, organic and natural product chemistry and published over 80 refereed journal articles and several chapters in different books.
According to the new VC, qualitative research is critical to discovery of new knowledge and achievement of the desired breakthrough in science and technology.
“AUO will intensify its research effort, especially in areas of interest to the university and immediate community. The research focus will be on medical biotechnology, petroleum chemistry, international law, cyber security, nuclear and radiation physics and security studies.” He Said.
Okeniyi, who officially assumed duty on October 1st, however promised to reposition the university.
