JUST IN: Bauchi Governor Tests Positive For Deadly Coronavirus

Bauchi Governor has tested positive for the deadly Coronavirus, officially known as COVID19, Ekohotblog understands.

The Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed has tested positive for COVID-19 after less than 24 hours announcement of self-isolation.

Governor Bala Mohammed becomes the first Coronavirus patient in Bauchi State and the first Nigerian Governor to test positive to the virus.

Mukhtar Gidado, the Senior Special Adviser to the Governor confirmed the results in a press statement released on Tuesday.

Ekohotblog gathered that Governor Bala Mohammed placed himself on Isolation and requested to be tested after confirming that the son of Atiku Abubakar, a former Vice President of Nigeria, tested positive to the deadly disease on Monday.

According to the Chief of Staff to the Bauchi State Governor, Ladan Salihu, Governor Bala Mohammed shook hands with the son of Atiku Abubakar in Lagos.

Salihu said the Governor and his entourage had close contact with the former Vice-president on their way to Abuja from the Lagos airport.

The Chief of staff further revealed that the Governor, as well as his entourage, have all taken the Coronavirus tests with hopes of getting a negative result.

His words, “Our Governor, Bala Mohammed is in self-isolation following contact with Atiku Abubakar’s son. Yes. We were on the same flight from Lagos to Abuja. They shook hands and exchanged pleasantries.

“The Gov and the rest of us have taken tests. The results will be negative in sha Allah.”
