EKO HOT BLOG reports that a Federal High court in Port Harcourt on Thursday disqualified the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, Tonye Cole.
Justice Emmanuel Obile, while delivering his judgment, agreed with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP’s) suit that Cole has dual citizenship and that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) did not monitor the APC delegates’ election that produced him as the gubernatorial candidate in Rivers State.
Speaking to journalists shortly after the court sitting, counsel to the PDP, Dike Udenna, said going by the ruling, INEC would not field Cole as the governorship candidate of the APC in the 2023 general elections.
This medium understands that the Rivers State chapter of the APC will approach the Appeal Court to challenge the Port Harcourt High Court’s verdict.
