[Just In] COVID-19: El-Rufai Lifts Ban On Daily Prayers, Services In Kaduna
The Governor of Kaduna State, mr Nasir El-Rufai has lifted the prohibition on daily prayers and services in places of worship in the State.
Meanwhile, worshipers are advised to ensure they comply with health protocols as basic condition to sustain the lifting prohibition.
This was contained in a statement issued on Friday by the Special Adviser on Media and Communications to Governor El-Rufai.
The statement explained that the decision was taken on the recommendation of the State Covid-19 Task Force.
Ekohotblog recalls that government had imposed restrictions on all forms of congregational worship on 26th March 2020, as part of measures by the state government’s COVID-19 containment strategy to curb the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The statement enjoined worshippers in the state to the wearing of facemasks, observing physical distancing, practising respiratory hygiene, Washing hands regularly, avoiding large gatherings, Remaining indoors as much as possible and eating immune-boosting diets.
The statement appealed to citizens to maintain utmost vigilance in offices, businesses, markets and places of worship, stressing that COVID-19 has not closed.
It observed that as people pursue their livelihoods, they should practise the personal responsibility obligations, outlined in the forward campaign to protect themselves and their families.
The statement warned that places of worship that persistently fail to comply with the guidelines may be closed, to protect the worshippers and the public.
It explained that Bureau of Interfaith Matters would continue to engage leaders of faith on compliance with the guidelines for safe resumption of daily prayers and services.
