JUST IN: Date For AFCON 2023 Confirmed

The CAF football body have officially confirmed the start dates for the 2023 AFCON that’s set to take place in Ivory Coast.

It is a 4 week event that starts January 13, 2024 and ends February 11, 2024.

As it is with the recent AFCON, it cuts through 24 teams who will be selected from the ongoing qualifiers.
EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has confirmed the kick-off and final dates for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, which will be hosted in Cote d’Ivoire.
The tournament will feature 24 teams and will take place over the course of four weeks, starting on Saturday, January 13, 2024, and ending with the final match on Sunday, February 11, 2024.

The newly-built Alassane Quatara Stadium in Ebimpe, Abidjan, will host the opening match of the tournament.
Meanwhile the final match will also be played at the same venue, which has a capacity of 60,000 spectators. The stadium was constructed specifically for the 2023 AFCON and is expected to be one of the premier sporting venues in Africa.
So far, seven teams have qualified for the tournament, including Algeria, Morocco, South Africa, Tunisia, Burkina Faso, Senegal, and the host country, Cote d’Ivoire. Nigeria’s Super Eagles will join them if they can secure a draw in their next game against the Leone Stars of Sierra Leone in June.
The final draw for the tournament will be held in September 2023, and CAF will announce the date and venue in due course.
The 2023 AFCON is one of the most highly anticipated sporting events in Africa, and fans across the continent are eagerly anticipating the start of the tournament.
