Dogara has dumped APC and declared membership in the PDP.
EKO HOT BLOG reports that the former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, has officially announced his membership withdrawal from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The lawmaker was received into the PDP on Monday during the party’s presidential campaign in Lagos today.
PDP presidential candidate and former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, was happy to receive Dogara at the nation’s commercial capital.
Meanwhile, Dogara has been appointed as a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential campaign council (PCC).
The appointment was announced on Sunday by the director general of the PDP PCC and Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal.
The fresh appointment comes on the heels of the decision by Dogara to declare support for the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.
Dogara and other Northern Christian leaders in his camp who rejected the Muslim-Muslim ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have revealed the candidate they’ll support for the 2023 presidential election.
The leaders, under the aegis of the Northern Leaders Consultative Forum, declared support for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Atiku Abubakar.
They revealed their decision on Friday at a media conference in Abuja.
Though Dogara is a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), he openly rejected the decision of his party to field a Muslim-Muslim ticket of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and Senator Kashim Shettima.
The development informed his decision to dump Tinubu and pitch his tent with Atiku.
