Eko Hot Blog reports that Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief of Staff to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has announced that the N35,000 provisional wage increment for the average low-grade worker would now cover all workers.
This news medium understands that Gbajabiamila made the announcement at the ongoing meeting with the representatives of the federal government at the presidential villa, Abuja.
Earlier during his independence speech, Tinubu announced a provisional wage increment for the average low-grade worker to cushion the effect of the removal of the petrol subsidy.
The organised labour at the ongoing meeting rejected the N25,000 provisional wage increment for the average low-grade worker.
However, the presidency later issued a statement after the meeting that the wage increment had been raised to N35,000 for six months.
“UPDATE: Going from the meeting with Labour today, the President Bola Tinubu @officialABAT has agreed to increase the provisional wage award for all treasury-paid Federal Government workers to N35,000 for 6 months,” the presidency disclosed on X, formerly known as Twitter late Sunday night.
