JUST IN: Five Prospective Corps Members Feared Dead, Many Injured In Fatal Accident

  • Five prospective corps members have been reported dead while others were injured in a fatal accident.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that no fewer than five prospective members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) have been reported dead while seven others were injured as a bus conveying them to Katsina State was involved in an accident.

The prospective corps members, it was gathered, departed the Federal University of Uyo (UNIUYO), in Akwa Ibom State on Tuesday evening before their vehicle was involved in the accident in Abuja, the nation’s capital.

While speaking from a hospital where the injured persons were taken to, One of the occupants in the vehicle, disclosed that the crash left five students dead.

A source further disclosed that the prospective corps members, who assembled at the main gate of UNIUYO took off at about 4 pm on Tuesday, the same day the 2021 Batch ‘B’ Stream Orientation Course was set to begin.

The source added that about three buses which were registered with the institution had already departed for Katsina before the one involved in the crash embarked on the journey.

However, the cause of the fatal accident could not be ascertained as of the time of filing this report.
