EKOHOTBLOG reports that the former Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly, Mike Ogar, has passed away.
The incumbent Speaker of the Assembly, Eteng Williams, made the disclosure in the early hours of Tuesday.
Williams disclosed that the former Speaker died on Tuesday morning due to an undisclosed ailment at the age of 73.
The Speaker, who spoke through his Chief Press Secretary, Hope Obeten, added that burial arrangements would be made public once the family confirms the demise of the former Speaker to the House.
EKOHOTBLOG reports that Ogar represented Bekwarra State Constituency in the Cross River Assembly between 1999 and 2003.

He became the first Speaker to emerge from the state parliament in the Fourth Republic.
Ogar was born July 22, 1948.
The late Speaker obtained his doctorate degree (Ph.D.) in Regional Planning at the prestigious University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, United States of America.
Until his death, Ogar was a consultant to many universities across the country on regional planning and environmental studies.
