EKO HOT BLOG reports that in a shocking incident that occurred in the early hours of Friday, unknown gunmen kidnapped former Deputy Governor of Nasarawa State, Professor Onje Gye-Wado from his residence in Gwagi village of Wamba Local Government Area of the state.
According to reports, the assailants forcefully broke into his house and took him away to an unknown location.
Confirming the development, the state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ramhan Nansel, issued a press release stating that the police command in collaboration with other security agencies has launched a search operation to rescue the victim unhurt.
The commissioner of police, CP Maiyaki Baba, also reassured the public that every effort is being made to secure the release of the former deputy governor.
The police statement read, “Information received by the command indicated that on 7/4/2023 at about 12:30 am, unknown gunmen invaded Gwagi village in Wamba LGA, broke into the residence of one Prof. Onje Gye-wado and abducted him to an unknown destination. Upon receipt of the information, Police operatives attached to Wamba Division swiftly moved to the scene, but the hoodlums had fled with the victim before their arrival.”
Following the incident, the commissioner of police mobilized and deployed reinforcement comprising Police tactical teams, military, vigilantes, and local hunters to complement the ongoing search to rescue the former deputy governor unharmed and arrest the perpetrators of the act.
The news of the kidnapping of Professor Onje Gye-Wado has sent shockwaves throughout the state, with many expressing their concern and calling on the authorities to ensure his safe return.

Professor Onje Gye-Wado served as the Deputy Governor of Nasarawa State from 2011 to 2015 and is a renowned academician and political figure in the state.
His abduction has raised concerns over the security situation in the state and the need for increased efforts to curb the rising cases of kidnapping and other criminal activities.
