JUST IN: Gov. Tambuwal Orders Shut Down Of Mobile Phone Services In Sokoto
- Governor Tambuwal has ordered the shut down of mobile phone services in Sokoto State.
EKOHOTBLOG reports that the Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal, has ordered all telecom operators to shut down their networks in 14 of the 23 Local Government Areas of the state as part of the efforts to fight banditry.
Governor Aminu Tambuwal gave the order in an interview with the Voice of America Hausa Service on Monday.
The governor, who said the state sought approval from the Federal Government (FG) before enforcing the network ban, noted that the affected council areas are the most vulnerable to bandits’ attacks in Sokoto State.

The mobile phone services were shut over the ongoing security operations against bandits in the North-West region of the country.
