Kogi government has banned mining activities
EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Kogi State Government has outlawed illegal mining throughout the whole State.
Two people died at an unlawful mining site in Ika-Ogboyaga, Ankpa Local Government Area of the State, after a section of a mining bed fell in, prompting the order.

The two victims, named Attah and Amodu, passed away on Saturday.
Bashiru Gegu, the Kogi State Commissioner for Solid Minerals and Natural Resources, directed that henceforth all operators should register with the ministry.
According to the statement, failure to adhere to the directive, the State government would clamp down on the mining operators and sites.
Meanwhile, the State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), says it has begun an investigation to ascertain the owner of the collapsed site.
